Broken tree stump and seed heads in golden British autumn field
Photograph of a yellow hot air balloon with “SHE KNOWS” text floating above Silverstone’s rural fields at dawn. A tranquil scene with forested horizon, tree silhouettes, and quiet festival charm.
Framed photo of a yellow hot air balloon floating above green hills and trees, hung above a dining table with white flowers. A quiet rural scene that hints at gentle movement and morning light.
Interior wall with four framed prints, including There She Knows. Below, a wooden shelf that holds vases, books, plants in a warm, curated arrangement.

There She Knows!: Bold stripes, quiet sky, drifting truth

from £30.00

On the cusp of morning, the familiar fields near Silverstone momentarily transformed, as hot air balloons rose into the sky to mark the start of the Festival. Ruby paused alongside me, just as a few curious crows took flight — each of us taking in the strangeness and splendour of this scene. It’s a fleeting moment turned favourite, where surprise meets serenity in the paths we know well.

At the heart of the image floats a yellow balloon, striped in black and emblazoned with the phrase “SHE KNOWS.” It hovers just above the treeline, its message both cryptic and compelling. Around it, three smaller balloons drift quietly, their colours softer, their presence more subtle — a visual echo to the lead balloon’s declarative ascent.

The foreground is anchored by a solitary tree, its branches reaching skyward as if in quiet conversation with the balloons above. The forested horizon stretches gently behind, offering depth and stillness to the composition. The sky itself is clear, save for a few clouds near the edge — a canvas of calm against which this moment unfolds.

There She Knows is both literal and lyrical. It captures a rural spectacle, yes — but also something more intimate: a shared pause, a sense of knowing without words. The phrase on the balloon invites interpretation. Is it intuition? Memory? A private truth made public for just a moment?

This photograph sits within my broader portfolio of seasonal storytelling and place-rooted reflection. It’s a piece that speaks softly, yet lingers — much like Ruby’s quiet companionship and the landscapes we walk together. A reminder that even in familiar fields, wonder can rise unannounced.
